WELL HEY THERE,

I'M KRISTY COOPER
"I NEVER
THOUGHT
I WOULD DO
THIS"

6 years ago, the idea of being a doula was not even a thing I had ever considered. Honestly, I thought doulas were only for the “crunchy” folks.

Once I had my babies I thought I would hit that ole 9-5 life back up butSomewhere along the way my passion for birth grew bigger than I could have ever imagined and I decided to trade the 9-5 into a 24/7

I’d rather be by your side at 4 am crammed into your bathroom looking you in the eyes saying "YOU CAN DO THIS" while sitting in a bathtub beside your husband & midwife with tears running down our faces as we watch you holding your crying newborn.

LOOKING BACK

When I was a little girl, I would watch in awe as my cats and other farm animals gave birth. It was like a magical wonderland, and it was in that moment that I knew I wanted to help others through the same experience. Little did I know that years later, I would be a doula, supporting parents through pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum.

I’m probably sipping coffee, feeding the chickens or in the kitchen dreaming of better ways we can all support Alberta  birthing families.

Want to know what lights my fire? Showing women how to harness the power to take control of their birth. Balancing how to be a little old school to unleash ancient wisdom yet welcoming the information and evidence of modern medicine.

In case you’re new around here, I believe that change  to the system happens with you and your power. I can’t wait to show you exactly what I mean…

My Philosophy

For as long as we can remember, women have traditionally helped one another to give birth.  I believe in the innate strength and ability of women to give birth, and that parents have the right and responsibility to make informed, competent, and sensitive decisions about the manner in which they choose to give birth. My role on your journey is to provide skilled and unbiased guidance, trust in your ability, and be an open listening ear and the wisdom of experience. I will support you in making informed decisions regarding your unique birth experience, in the environment of your choice and with whom you wish to share it.

MY FIRST BIRTH STORY

Grab a coffee and listen as I share my secondary infertility journey that led me to the birth of my rainbow baby, Mary!  I talk about trying to conceive & preparing for the birth of my baby in rural Alberta.
